"Hop: The Hidden World" is a solo-player adventure where you assume the role of Egg, an inquisitive rabbit eager to venture beyond her home. Your mission is to traverse and master the art of parkour across various landscapes, ranging from enchanting mystical forests to concealed crystal caves.

This independent project, serves as a platform for honing both my game design and artistic abilities. By undertaking projects with the goal of achieving high-quality results with constraints of working alone. I aimed to refine and adapt my skills in a dynamic and challenging manner.

  • This game project Hop: The Hidden World was a two week solo project. Specialising in design and 2d art. my contribution to the game is creating everything form the planning to the final game.

Hop: The Hidden World trailer is a short video, showing the combination of game play and map designs. through in game footage the trailer helps new players understand the theme and genre of the game giving them a preview of what's to come if they chose to download and play

Design

When designing the levels I wanted the camera to be stagnate allowing the level to be played within the frame the screen. this was to add verticality to the design and be able to produce new levels quickly. With this design choice it allows players to see the route to the end giving the player an advantage to map making them feel like they can easily complete the levels

Art

By layering different artwork Infront and behind the playable area creates a 3D perspective were the player feels grounded and apart of the game. The art style I went for was very simple but stylised giving more depth and detail to the overall game. using the colour pallets of blues and purples gives the game a mystical other worldly relating to the theme of adventuring into the unknown 

Programming

using c# as the programming language

gave me full control on movement and game feel making it easy for me to manipulate character speed and jump distance. tweaking and changing property's allowed for easy level design due to being able to play test and change the map or player stats accordingly to add difficulty and ease where needed
