The Traveller is a story-oriented/player-choice game, where you play as the character Culom. His quest, which was passed to him by his father, is to find the goblin king Gringor to claim the power of the red gem.

The player will be given choices to progress through the narrative/ dialogue. The majority of choices result in the same outcome but in the end battle you will have to choose correctly between the multiple choices to defeat Gringor or else you will be defeated resulting in you losing the game.

  • For this game project The Traveller I specialized in Design. my contribution to the game is creating all aspects, from the planning to the final game as show in the video.

Engine

Unity was chosen for this project as I was learning how to use the engine due to it being one of my first projects.

the main plug-in used was Fungus, this allowed me to create the branches of dialogue for the player to read and interact with.

Narrative

Narrative design was very important for this project as I wanted a short game that creates a cohesive story.

to create the story, I had to create a Narrative not just through the dialogue but through the use of different environments to make the player feel like they're moving through the world.

Art

For the art I wanted to keep it simple as I made all the assets myself. I chose to creating a 2D top-down game as it alowed me to have controle over the games look and art style.

UI is basic, this is so the player doesn't get confused with the options allowing them to understood without any problems.

Programming

When programming I used C# to give the player the ability to move the character while going through the forest. I did this to show the player a visual representation of their progress and how they got from one place to the other.
